Dr. Richard B. Johnson, Jr.
Ph.D., M.D., F.A.C.P.
Dr. Johnson received his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Austin College in 1967 and earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry at Columbia University in 1972. After completing post-doctoral research in virology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he obtained his M.D. from the University of Texas, Houston in 1978.
He served in the US Navy where he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and became Board Certified. In 1985 he entered private practice.
In 1990 Dr. Johnson studied geriatric medicine and obtained added qualifications in geriatric medicine to his Board Certification in Internal Medicine. In 2001, he was recognized as a Clinical Specialist in Hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension.
Dr. Johnson was a senior partner at the Diagnostic Clinic of Houston from 1993 to 2006. He then relocated his practice to Kerrville, Texas where he practices Internal Medicine. In 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015, he was selected as the best physician by the readers of the Kerrville Daily Times.

Mistie Kocurek is the nurse practitioner for the practice. Her ambition is to help people starting at a young age, the teenage years.
She completed her undergraduate study at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio earning a Bachelor of Science.
She has extensive experience working in San Antonio as a critical care registered nurse for several years in an internal medicine environment for which she grew a passion.
Her love for patient well-being and desire to provide optimal medical care to the community encouraged her to continue her education. She earned her Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Her approach to providing the best healthcare is driven by evidence based medicine that is backed by extensive research.
She and her husband live in Bandera and together are blessed with five children. In her free time, she enjoys church, family gatherings, and many different outdoor activities.
